Uighur-Latin Comparison
Comparison of the modern Uighur alphabet with the Uighur Latin alphabet.
From the the 16th century until the early 20th century, Uyghur was written with a version of the Arabic alphabet (known as "kona-yezik"). Later, versions of the Latin ("yeni-yezik")and Cyrillic alphabets were adopted. However the Latin alphabet was unpopular and in 1987 the Arabic script was reinstated as the official script for Uyghur.
For ease of understanding, we are primarily using the Uighur Latin alphabet on this web site. The following is a comparison of the modern Uighur alphabet and the Uighur Latin alphabet.
