Etirgul (Rose) Restaurant in Hoten

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who travels to Hoten. The restaurant is named Etirgul (Rose). The food is typical Hoten style and the service is great. You don't need call for reservation before you go. Just to be prepared to wait in the line.

'Hurry up! A bus of tourists is coming. Let's get in to the Rose before them.'

No empty table left. We had to wait for half an hour for our turn.

Waiter is taking order.

The 'Tonur kabab with non'. The lamb is baked in tonur and steamed with non on top before serving hot to your table. The price is 26 RMB per kilo.

The famous and one only 'corn soup' of the Rose restaurant. The cook boasted: "You won't be able to find anything like the in the whole world. It is our secret recipe."

8 kebab boys prepare lamb shish kebabs for guests from 7am in the morning until mid-night.

The front yard of Rose restaurant owner - simple but clean.

This is the Uighur style tonur. It smoke-cook 8 lambs at the same time. Believe or not, the restaurant has 4 of these tonur.

Ladies are cooking famous 'corn soup' in the back yard.

Hoten region is very dry. There is basically no rain all year round. Irrigation is totally relied on snow water from the nearby Pamir Mountain. Leaves of all trees and plantations seem always covered by thick dust.
