Life of Farmers

Farmers rest in the wood during the lunch time.

The youngest son takes care of a large fruit farm with peach, pear, apple and apricots. He also grows vegetables.

Sheeps are the bi product of the farm.

A donkey cart is the major transportation for the family.

We took a rest with the farmers, had some home grown water melons. All of sudden, there was a little emergency. The entrance of a tunnel underneath a road was blocked with tree branches. I voluntarily helped to take out the braches. The farm lady was impressed by my work:”You are indeed a good farmer! I can tell you know how to do this kind of hard work.” I replied: "Oh, this is a piece of cake for me. I have done much harder work than this.".

It is time to pose a picture with farmer's family. The lady showed us a picture which was taken 5 years ago. The tree in the picture was the one planted 5 years ago. It was tiny then, now the tree is ready to give shade to the passers by.

Farmers take their farm product to the nearest bazaar for sale. The life of farmers depends on those sales. This year is a pretty good year for the family.

This lady works very hard all year round. She has two children studying in Urumqi colleges. She told us: "The cost of living in Urumqi is very high. We use most of our income for educating our children. In order to change their life, they have to get higher education. We don't want them spend their life like us here." Her daughter is helping her mother during the summer vacation.

A cute little girl is very curious about us. “Why do you take so many pictures? Can you take me a picture?” she asked.

Two naughty little boys insisted on taking a picture of them too.
